I was a person who is speaking with American accent but I turned to speaking with British accent. And how did I do. Let's check it out !
1. First of all , you must don't emphasize to "R" sound on British English. Let's look at the examples of these words :
For ( foo )
Water ( Wota )
Ear ( iyaa )
Air ( ee ) ( with a sound between "e" and "a" )
Heart ( Haat )
Normal ( Noomıl )
After ( Afta )
As you see , in the words that contain "r" sound , you can't tell to "r" sound. But of course there are exceptions. So , you cannot do that in everywhere. For example , in the "Great" word , you have to pronounce normal , like American accent. Shortly , treat like "R" sound is just a decoration.Actually , we can understand that we won't emphasize to "R" sound in where ? It takes time. You should do practice on that. Let's pass to how will we do practice to use to British English.
2.How will you do practice to use to British English ? Fırst of all , you gotta get a book and start off to read it. The point is , trying to reading it with British accent. Personally , I was observing a lot of mistakes on me, but there's no problem never. Because mistakes come by your side because of fix your pronouncation. If you promise me , I'll promise you about you'll be a person who can pronounce it easily. In the "Th" sound , you gotta pronounce it like , you are combining "f" and lisp "s" sound. So , you have to tell like "f+s" sound. And be careful in the "s" sound because you have to pronounce it lisp.
4.How will you pronounce to "O" sounds. That's a really very decisive issue. You have to know that British people pronounce to "O" sounds as we read and they change it a little bit than American people. For example :
American people say : No ( No )
British people say : No ( Nouu)
Which means , British people say to "O" sound like "U" sound sometimes.
